What Remains: A Legacy Writing Circle
Wed, Feb 11

It’s said our greatest legacy is how others remember us. But what if we want our stories to live on in our own voices? Writing our “life stories” can be daunting. In this circle, we will use writing as a practice to see our lives in new ways; to record the stories we know and discover new ones.

What
It’s said that our greatest legacy is how others remember us. But what if we want our stories to live on in our own voices? The challenge for many, however, is that writing our “life stories” can be daunting. What are the “worthy” stories? How can we write them in a way that “sound good”? These questions are valid, but they also distract us from trusting the process of writing as a way to make discoveries about ourselves.
In this writing circle, we will use writing as a practice—as opposed to a performance—to see our lives in new ways. This process will give us the opportunity not only to record the stories we know but to discover new ones. What will remain, then, will be the unique stories of our hearts that only we can tell. No prior writing experience necessary.
