What
An immersive series that centers the interwoven relationship of living and dying, life and death, through a tender and nuanced exploration of the deep practice of savasana.
Each session will include enough gentle, warming movement to prepare our bodies for a prolonged savasana; each practice will bring us deeper into the heart of the ultimate seat.
Yoalli Rodriguez describes grief as another ontological form of time: by the hands of a clock we’ll practice for 75 minutes each session, though in another expression of time we’ll be exploring the infinite.
We’ll gather Tuesday-Thursday evenings, 6:00-7:15pm, January 10th - 13th.
We’ll meet for a total of 3 sessions. Due to the nature of the immersion we strongly recommend attending each one.
This practice is offered on a tiered pricing scale:
Tier 1 - $75
Tier 2 - $60
Tier 3 - $40
If you are feeling financially comfortable, we ask that you consider paying the upper tiers; if you are experiencing a financial burden and cannot budget any of the suggested prices feel free to pay any ammount that works for you.
Please join Cary in this journey through the practice of savasana.
About Carey:
I have been a dedicated practitioner of Yoga for more than half my life, and have been teaching for a little more than a decade. I came to Shadow Yoga after the death of my father when I was in my early 30s, having felt the instinctual/intuitive pull to an established, strong container that I understood to be authentic in its approach, and have been on that particular path ever since. The elegance of this practice informs the facilitation I offer, and supports my life in every other way.
In another life I was the steward of North Portland Yoga, and that was an honor in the
highest. I attempt to be a humble guest on this path and bow deeply to the lands whence it comes. I hold that Yoga cannot capitulate to capitalism, and we have to learn that radical wisdom in our bodies so that we may continue imagining and shaping a livable world for all beings.
I have recently embarked upon the path of deathwork, having participated in the training retreat with Alua Arthur and Going With Grace. I am currently enrolled in the course and plan to become a nationally certified death doula. I am so very honored to be in this practice and in this life with you.
