When & Where

Jan 21, 2023, 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM

The Portland Grief House, 7906 N Fessenden St, Portland, OR 97203, USA

What

My name is Morrison and I'm a Black, 2S guide, and community chef. My organization Ancestral Flowers works diligently to foster space for expression, somatic movement, and curated wellness offerings, like this one!

Through this partnership with the Portland Grief House, I hope you find the tender space to hold and express your grief in the ways society often does not allow.

This will be an intimate, floor-seated dining gathering where each of the five courses will lead us through one of the five stages of grief. Each course corresponds with a brief activity and conversation that aims to open us to the vast possibilities of how grief can show up in our lived experiences.

In a month that is heavily focused on restriction and diet culture, this sacred offering has been curated to support you physically, mentally, and spiritually, exactly as you are.

Menu:

denial

charred garnet yams and pan seared broccolini topped with caramelized pearl onions over a roasted beet purée

anger

seasonal galette with mushrooms, acorn squash, caramelized red onions, and goat cheese, brushed with garlic confit

bargaining

herb infused mashed potatoes surrounded by creamed swiss chard, topped with a rosemary and black pepper chicken breast

depression

mascarpone whipped oats inside a spice filled nest of molasses roasted pears and glazed sweet potato floral strips

acceptance

raspberry lemon and pear sorbet garnished with fresh mint and lemon zest

Vegetarian options will be available upon request. This will be a dry dining experience and no alcohol will be served.
