creatures.

They were face-less, limb-less,
they glowed and had to live
in water.

One was orange and pink like a sunset
shaped
like a kidney. It was the one

I wanted. I asked - What are they?

She said:
We are the things inside us.

These can be scanned
by science tools. We could slice you open, slip them in. They can be seen
on screens. This will help them not

remove the things
we need.

(slice me open)

She said:
We are the things inside us, but

we aren't anything that we contain.
This is a prototype and
it won't work.

Even though: the slicing,
I did want it. It could be scanned and seen
on screens. It glowed under the water.

But then, it wouldn't work
because
I'm nothing I contain.

I am the things inside me
and I'm nothing
I contain.
