This group holds space for all animal-related grief. Whether you're grieving the death of a pet or companion animal, disconnection from an animal (after a move, re-homing, etc) or grief connected to the disappearance animals due to climate change or industrial practices this group is for you.

Our relationships with animals often shape our lives in quiet, enduring ways. They anchor our routines, accompany us through transitions, and offer a form of connection that can be hard to explain. When these relationships change or end, our grief can be profound, yet rarely offered public space or recognition.
This monthly, in-person peer support group at the Portland Grief House is designed to offer that space.
You are welcome whether you are grieving the death of a pet or companion animal, feeling the loss created by a move or animal rehoming, or carrying sorrow about the disappearance of animals due to climate change or industrial practices. Animal-related grief takes many forms, and all of them belong here. Together, we will make room for the wide range of losses people experience. No loss is too unconventional or too “small” to be honored.
