One-On-One Guided Dream Work with Tina Tau at the Portland Grief House!
Tina is offering 2, 60 minute sessions at 2:00 and 3:30 on Wednesday, August 23rd.
I grew up hearing Quakers talk of "that of God" in everyone. I always pictured that piece of God as a little spark of divinity inside us - like a golden ring in a cherry pie. Something glowing, of a different nature, hidden and small.Â
But my dreams have taught me to see this differently. "That of God" in us has more motion, more urgency, than a ring. It is not finished. It is something like the tree inside the acorn - 'the force that through the green fuse drives the flower,' in Dylan Thomas' words.
It is potent, like an underground aquifer, or a snowstorm, or Mozaet's Requiem, or the look in a red-tailed hawk's eye. It's both fiercely impersonal and fiercely personal. It has the power, and the intent, to make us more alive. It wants us to join with it, to ride the wingedness of it, and it will use any glint of light, or avalanche or field of bluebells, or intense dream to shake us out of our dullness and sense of separation.Â
This wild intelligence - life itself - arises from both within and outside me, in some way that seems stranger the longer I live with it. And one of the ways it makes itself known in my life is in my dreams.
Dear reader, I hope that shiver of awareness when a dream suddenly makes sense to you becomes part of your life. That shiver is the leading edge of wonder. And wonder has the power to pry open, to crack open, our shell of alienation. Our dreams arise from an ancient, inherent source.Â
The Earth, you might say, is dreaming us. If we pay attention to the dreams she sends we might start to accept that this is where we belong. We might remember we are animals. We might sprout wings and whiskers, might start to live on our planet as if we loved it here.
Okay yes. Yes, indeed, but how does it work?
- Come with a dream - and old one or a new one, one that repeats or is only scraps, written or just barely in your mind.
- Pour yourself some tea (optional but suggested).
- Show your dream to Tina. Talk with it and her.
- Shiver into more wonder and connection.Â
- Grow whiskers, sprout wings, see what you might love here.
