When & Where

Nov 05, 2023, 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM EST

Book Bird & Banjo Lounge, 32 N Avondale Rd, Avondale Estates, GA 30002

Who

What

In the Chinese medicine cosmology, autumn is associated with grief. Autumn is a time of harvest - a time where we are finally able to see the fruits of our labor while accepting our losses. In this moment of harvest, we work to be present with what we find and hold it along side of our hopes and expectations. There can be great joy and great sorrow as we do this work.

In our first event in the Atlanta area, Judith and Sascha invite you to an afternoon of letting go and sharing. We will gather at 3pm at the Book Bird & Banjo Lounge in Avondale Estates, GA. We will spend some time grounding before Judith begins a brief fall acupuncture offering. We will be present with what is and hold a Grief Spill (a circle of sharing what is overflowing). We will then ground and center before closing.

Letting go of a beloved, a dream, or an idea of how things were supposed to be can be so consuming. We hope you can join us as we embrace this time of harvest and all that it brings to set the stage for a restorative winter.

About the facilitators:

Judith Kenen has been practicing Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Herbalism since 2006 at Intown Acupuncture in Decatur.  She applies 5 Element theory, an approach that looks at the body and psyche as a mirror of the energetic characteristics of the seasons, to help support her clients well being.  She also uses guided meditations and humor to help with self discovery and the cultivation of self-compassion, which she believes can provide the most healing of all.

Sascha Demerjian is a cofounder of the Portland Grief House. The road she took to get here took her through a MSW from the University of Michigan, a PhD in Sociology from Emory University, several moves across the country, parenthood, pet parenthood, and so many deep connections and losses. She loves growing spaces and opportunities for people to be present with what is behind the mask we often wear in day to day life. She works to change the narrative along the way to allow for messiness, grief, joy in these spaces.
