Portland

Do you have an idea about a project that addresses our grief and isolation that you’re sure could be useful, but can't quite make real? I’d love to hear about the futures you imagine and work with you to make them into the world.

When & Where

Aug 23, 2024, 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Portland, 7906 N Fessenden St, Portland, OR 97203, USA

What

Working with ideas requires openness and safety. If we feel judged scared or self-conscious, beautiful, perfectly possible inventions will often self-destruct. Having a companion to catch and see your imaginings as they venture out into the world - to support them as they take form - can make all the difference.

Do you have an idea about how we might come together to hold each other more fully, that you think might be great and you’d love to talk over? A project that addresses our grief and isolation that you’re sure could be useful, but can’t quite make real?

I’d love to help look for ways your ideas might find footing in the world. I’d love to hear about the futures you imagine and work with you to make them real.

Sessions can be held virtually or in person in the Portland area.

A Session Might Look Like:

• An email exchange ahead of time to better understand the project/idea/dream you’d like to work on.

• Somatic grounding at the start of our meet-up: breath work, movement, guided meditation to help us be together physically with more of our selves.

• An idea spill - a chance for you to pour out every thought you have, with no fear or judgement or discouragement. You can do this using words or gestures or by drawing or writing.

I’ll listen and, if you’d like, write down things that feel poignant. At the end of our session I’ll give you these notes to keep and look back on.

I will offer companionship, camaraderie and orientation while you walk through the charted and uncharted landscape of your potential project/invention.

• I’ll ask questions to help fill in blank places and bridge gaps.

• We will look at your idea side by side, notice its shape, how it is changing, and what it might want next.

If this sounds interesting and like it might be useful, please schedule a session.

Idea companionship sessions have are provided at no charge. However, if you want to donate to support the Grief House, you are welcome to do so.

Whether or not this practice is a good fit, I will feel glad to know you and your ideas a bit better.
