NOTE: This event prioritizes folks who identify as trans, nonbinary, genderfluid, or otherwise gender non-conforming. We will be using a trans-positive lens. Allies may join, but please be aware that this space is not intended to educate cis folks.
This is a space for trans, nonbinary, genderfluid, and other gender non-conforming (GNC) folks to grieve the devastation of the binary gender system on us as individuals and on the collective. Gender binaries are often upheld as sacred despite overwhelming evidence of gender diversity in humans and in nature. GNC folks are regularly demonized, misgendered, and restricted from accessing basic care.
This group holds space for the sacred grief and rage of GNC bodies expressing ourselves fully and unapologetically. It honors the roots of transphobia in colonialism, fascism, and more and also holds space for the pain of intersecting marginalization. Even spaces that we might think would be inclusive (such as…
