Death Care within
The Grief House Death Care Collective
Many of us have been raised in cultures that interact with death fearfully and combatively. If our socially reinforced habit is to pour energy into fighting and forestalling death it's easy to feel lost, defeated and resourceless when its inevitability becomes unavoidable.
This estrangement from death is new. Humans lived closely and well with death, everywhere there were humans, for most of our history on this planet. Finding a way back into community with death can feel tremendously stabilizing and empowering.
The Grief House Death Care Collective offers compassionate, practiced, diversely knowledgeable support while you and your loved ones move through death, funerals, final dispositions and beyond. In their company we hope you’ll find a path to deeper, richer connections to this season of life.
We can be at peace with death again.
We can teach each other how.
A Closer Look At Our Approach
Nature offers constant support to understand the duality of life and death. Breathing in and out, sleeping and waking, the turning of the seasons - we’re constantly participating in transformative cycles. We use two broad models to better understand and assess the needs and desires you and your family are experiencing; our Moon Cycles and our Earthly Houses.
While the Moon Cycles help your Death Care Steward understand what phase of death and dying you or your loved one are in and see on the horizon, our Earthly Houses help your Death Care Steward learn about the needs and gaps in your death care and end of life support.
